Dambisa Moyo: The Global Economist

(Zambia) – There is a great Zambian woman that must be celebrated, as her contribution to the global economy cannot be ignored – Dr Dambisa Moyo, an influencer with over a million followers on LinkedIn.

Dambisa Moyo, PhD, is a global economist who sits on the boards of the 3M Company, Chevron Corporation, Barclays Plc, together with her colleagues in these global giants, overseeing US$1,6 trillion in worth.

The 3M Company, formerly known as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company is an American multinational conglomerate corporation operating in the fields of industry, worker safety, health care, and consumer goods, with a total assets worth US$36 billion.

Chevron Corporation is an American multinational energy corporation engaged in every aspect of the oil, natural gas, and geothermal energy industries, including hydrocarbon exploration and production; refining, marketing and transport; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation, with total assets worth over US$250 Billion.

Barclays Plc is a British multinational investment bank and financial services company, who, apart from investment banking, are into four core businesses: personal banking, corporate banking, wealth management, and investment management, with total assets worth over US$1.4 trillion.

Dr Dambisa Moyo is a Zambian economist overseeing companies whose net worth is 70 times larger than the GDP of the Zambian economy (US$23 billion, 2018). She holds a PhD in Economics from Oxford, a Masters from Harvard.
